Another maid files criminal charges against businessman (The Daily Tribune)

Another criminal complaint for serious illegal detention and serious physical injuries has been files by a house helper of businessman Mariano Tanenglian.

Gina Renacia Renacia filed the complaint before the Department of Justice, accusing Mariano Tanenglian and his family members, Aleta, Madeline, and Junjun of abusing her.

According to the affidavit, Renacia, while working for the Tanenglians in November 1992, started to experience physical and mental abuse from the respondents. At times, she was beaten up, forced to shave her head, and slapped if she made a mistake. Finally, Renacia claimed that Aleta pressed a hot iron on her back, causing her to undergo treatment at the Philippine General Hospital.

Earlier in August, two other housemaids of Mariano Tanenglian files similar charges against their former employer. They are Mary Jane Sollano, 18, from Zamboanga del Sur, and Aljane Bacanto, 19, from Leyte. The two claimed that they have been maltreated, not paid wages, and barred from going out of the house by the Tanenglian family.
