Two former maids of the family Mariano Tanenglian, Mary Jane Sollano and Aljane Bacanto, yesterday filled complaints of illegal detention and physical injuries against him at the Quezon City police.
Bacanto, 16, escaped her employer which paved the way to the rescue of Sollano, 18, in the Tanenglian’s residence in Sto. Domingo village last August 10. The two were accompanied by lawyer Al Parreno from Diaz, Parreno, and Caringal Law Office. The complainants filed charges of serious illegal detention and physical injuries against Mariano, his wife, and two children.
Bacanto has been serving the family for three years while Sollano has for five years. During this time, the two claimed that they have been maltreated, not paid wages, and were barred from going out of the house.
Atty. Parreno said that lawyer Melanie Trinidad, the private legal counsel of Sollano’s father is still “helping in the case.” In addition, he said that the two maids are currently undergoing counseling through Teresita Ang See’s Kaisa Foundation which helps battered women.
